Aliens Have Landed in New York!

It’s here! It’s here! Today is the release day for Uncommon Ground.

This book has been a bit of an experiment in a number of ways. First of all, being a part of the first gay Kindle World is amazing. There are so few LGBTQ Kindle World stories available. Hopefully we’ll be changing that!

Second, I hadn’t realised how much I missed writing science fiction until I started putting together this story. I adore my contemporaries, but there’s just something about writing aliens that appeals! Probably because it’s a fun way to look at humanity. 😀 With Uncommon Ground, I tried to combine both those loves to produce a science fiction story that reads like contemporary romance.

Third, this book wrote itself. I sat down with a vague plan—young guy, sort of a misfit, paying tribute to his grandfather. He would run afoul of aliens and fall in love with one of them. When I started writing Dillon, he made a few suggestions. All my characters do this. They’re an opinionated bunch. Lang, though, for all that he’s quiet and reserved, he’s the one who truly drove this story. He became so much more than what I planned and I love him for it.

Finally, this is my first experience self publishing a book—aside from the Chaos Station shorts. Unlike a simple download, however, this project required multiple beta rounds, three edit passes and a crash course in formatting for Kindle! That it turned out so well is due to all the help I received along the way. ❤
