Review: Saga, Volume 1

15704307Saga, Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Once I deciphered the meaning of the first page, I realised this wasn’t going to be an ordinary comic book–not that the word ‘ordinary’ can be use to describe many comics. They are, by nature, an exploration of the extra-ordinary.

Saga begins with the birth of a child and glimpses of a galaxy at war. Her parents are deserters and more than one person is after them, for more than one reason.

Entertaining dialogue, well realised characters (in just one issue, no less) a good story and great illustration by Fiona Staples. I’m inspired to read on!
